Sealed battery? Let Us Replace It For You!
It’s very common for smartphones and tablets- including the Apple iPhone and many newer Samsung Galaxy models- to now come with a sealed (non-removable) battery. This sometimes helps designers keep the device slimmer and better-looking, but there are also some major drawbacks. One is that the owner can’t swap out the battery when it fails or wears out. Sometimes the manufacturer offers this service- typically at a high price- but often not.

In this look at a Disc Depot repair, we’ll be showing you the replacement of the graphics chip on an Apple MacBook Pro (Model: A1286).
This Mac turned on, but the display was covered in stripes (as can be seen in the second photograph). This normally indicates a problem with the graphics chip, and although the computer was still usable at this stage, the chip was likely to fail completely in the near future.
This week we’re taking a look at a screen replacement for a MacBook (model: A1181). As you can see in one of the photos, the LCD itself has been damaged and some of the liquid crystal has leaked, giving that commonplace “cracked LCD” look.

So, it’s easy for us to blow our own trumpet- but it’s quite understandable that you might not want to take our word for it. That’s why we’ll be putting examples of our repairs online- starting with this Apple iPhone 5S being repaired at our store on City Road, St Andrews.
