Sealed battery? Let Us Replace It For You!

It’s very common for smartphones and tablets- including the Apple iPhone and many newer Samsung Galaxy models- to now come with a sealed (non-removable) battery. This sometimes helps designers keep the device slimmer and better-looking, but there are also some major drawbacks. One is that the owner can’t swap out the battery when it fails or wears out. Sometimes the manufacturer offers this service- typically at a high price- but often not.

If you’re in that boat- don’t worry! Here in St Andrews, we offer a replacement battery service- including fitting- at an affordable price within travelling distance for most people living or working in Fife.

You don’t need to throw it away when an affordable battery replacement will do the job.

Battery Fitting and Replacement from the Experts

Why should you choose Repair St Andrews when you’re looking to have your tablet/phone battery replaced? Aside from our convenient location, there’s another good reason- we’ve been around years longer than our rivals. Established in 2001, we opened our first shop and repair centre soon after and have been working on smartphones almost since the first iPhone came out. Our second store (in St Andrews) was opened in 2011 with many of the same experienced staff.

We think this compares rather favourably to (say) a store that opened six months back with nothing more than a rack of smartphone cases or a random person on Gumtree fixing iPads in his kitchen during his spare time!

Did you know that the connectors and components inside many phones and tablets can be damaged while simply trying to get into the case? There’s no need to leave your tablet or phone to the mercies of less reliable services when we can replace your battery at a price that’s competitive with most of the others.

Repair St Andrews’ battery replacement service brings affordability to phone and tablet owners in St Andrews and Fife.

Problem Charging Your Smartphone? Tablet Battery Capacity Not As Good As It Used to Be?

A reduction in power capacity or general charging issues can often indicate a problem with the lithium-ion battery (or cell) inside many devices. Whether it’s due to damage or simply worn out, the battery may need replaced.

Note that there may be other causes of charging problems with your Samsung Galaxy S, iPhone, iPad and so on. These include damaged or broken connections on the Micro-USB, Lightning or dock connectors; something which we can also repair if necessary.

If you’re not sure which it is, don’t worry- we can investigate the problem for you.

Swollen Cases and Bulging Batteries

If you’ve noticed the case of your phone or tablet start to noticeably distort or bulge, this is almost certainly caused by the battery inside itself swelling.

Basically, most phone and tablet batteries use Li-Ion (lithium ion) technology. And when Li-Ion batteries get damaged- sometimes through overcharging or excessive heat, sometimes as a result of a manufacturing defect- they tend to build up gas inside the case and swell.

This can be dangerous and you should not use any phone or tablet that has a swollen battery until it’s been safely replaced. (Such batteries can explode or catch fire if this is allowed to go on too long).

As they can be dangerous, please don’t throw them out with the your normal household waste. (If you’re getting us to replace the battery, we’ll safely dispose of the old one for you.)

Swollen Li-Ion batteries can explode or catch fire and must be replaced before the device is safe to use again.
