You Have to Be Good Dealing with Components This Small!

Some of the repairs we do might sound straightforward when you boil them down to their basic steps- pretty much anything can, and we often leave out a lot of the detail. In truth even straightforward repairs can be quite a bit more difficult than that in real life!

Take the connector to the right. This looks innocuous enough until you compare it to the 1p coin above. It’s small, and dealing with connections this size happens all the time!

Let’s just say that it’s very easy to break such connectors if you don’t know what you’re doing, and even easier to tear the ribbon cable. If there’s one thing significantly more fiddly than having to take care such connectors, it’s repairing them when they get damaged or the ribbon cable gets torn! Surprisingly, it’s not always straightforward to source a replacement and you would have to fix it.

Fortunately, our staff are experienced and now very good at their job- we’re not sure if it’s possible to say the same about some “repair” businesses consisting of a guy in his bedroom!
